Larry D. Vincent, 70, of Cambridge, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 10 th , at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cambridge American Legion Post 417 or the Cambridge Ambulance Service.
Larry Dale Vincent was born February 15, 1944 in Geneseo, the son of Russell D. and Vera M. Tomlinson Vincent. He was educated in Cambridge schools. His marriage to Kathleen Palmer took place on July 12, 1964 in Cambridge. Larry worked for Schieferdecker Construction in Cambridge during his early years. He was then employed at Case IH in East Moline from 1972 until retiring in 2002.
His memberships include the UAW Local 1304 and the Henry County Farm Bureau. Larry enjoyed camping in his RV and spending the winters in Florida with his friends. He truly loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Larry was an avid collector of Fisher Price toys and liked going to flea markets with his wife and their friends. He also enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and visiting with his friends at the American Legion in Cambridge.
Those surviving are his wife, Kathie, three daughters and sons-in-law, Tracie and Troy Coziahr, Cambridge, Kristine and Chris Sullens, Kewanee, Lisa and Scott Sumner, Cambridge, and seven grandchildren, Molly Jo, Mackenzie, Chloe, Reese, Tanner, Chase, and Spencer.
His parents and his brother, Jerry, preceded him in death. The family would like to thank Trinity Cancer Center and Hammond-Henry Hospital for their outstanding care these past few months.
