Larry E. McKinley, 82, of Geneseo, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Hammond-Henry Long Term Care, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22nd, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Rev. Matt Kamprath will officiate. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Ophiem. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church. Memorials may be made to the Ophiem Grace Lutheran Cemetery or the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge.
Larry Eugene McKinley was born January 18, 1939 in Galesburg, the son of Bertha M. McKinley. He was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1957. His marriage to Maxine Carlson took place on November 30, 1958 in Ophiem. She passed away on February 23, 2018. Larry worked as a product development specialist for Deere & Company in Moline for 36 years until retiring.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Lodge No. 1191 for 36 years and served as secretary for 22 years. His memberships included the former Grace Lutheran Church in Ophiem and the United Way of the Greater Quad Cities (14 years). He enjoyed woodworking, music, and gardening.
Those surviving are his daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda McKinley, Independence, MO, Belinda Webb, Cambridge, Deb and Mike Cass, Roscoe, IL, a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jana McKinley, Lake Stevens, WA, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, and a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Steve Peterson, Moline. His mother and step father, Bertha and Kenneth Johnson, and his wife, Maxine, preceded him in death.
