Kathryn I. Alderman, 96, of Galva died Monday, November 18, 2013 at Evenglow Health Center, Pontiac, IL. Kathryn was born May 6, 1917 in Cambridge Township near Ulah, IL the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Waterman) Vincent. She was educated in Galva Schools and graduated with the class of 1935.
Kathryn married Russell Alderman on August 20, 1935 in Crown Point, IN. He died on October 15, 1987. She was a partner with her husband in the Crown Café in Galva for 6 years. She was a reporter for the Galesburg Register-Mail for 10 years. She worked as a teller at the 1st National Bank in Galva for 21 ½ years and was owner of Alderman Antique and Collectibles for 5 years.
Kathryn was a Past President of Galva Woman’s Club.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard “Dick” and Lynn Alderman, Pontiac, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and G. Larry Pahlow, Windermere, FL; six grandchildren: Lon (Julie) Alderman, Laura (Tom) Ramseyer, LeRae (David) Young, Scott (Robbie Ann) Pahlow, Larken Pahlow, Ryan (Ashley) Pahlow; and 15 great grandchildren: Joshua, John, and James Ramseyer; Sean and Kalyn Young; Gina Brooks; Kassidy and Katie Alderman; Ryan, Eston, and Mason Pahlow; Anna Grace and Lillian Pahlow; and Ben and Luke Holderman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23rd at Galva Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 117 E. Division St., Galva, IL. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Kewanee. Rev. David Bultemeier will officiate. Visitation will be from Noon until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
