Katherine Pyszka

Katherine A. Pyszka, 90, of Geneseo, died Friday, November 26, 2010, at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, IL. She has resided with her son and daughter-in-law in Warrenville, IL for the last year. A private Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 1st, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. Father Michael Pakula will officiate. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St.Malachy’s Church. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

The former Katherine Bedini was born November 17, 1920 in Oglesby, IL, the daughter of Peter and Antionette (Popurella) Bedini. She attended the LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby High School, graduating in 1938. Her marriage to Bernard Pyszka took place on May 1, 1945 at St. Hyacinth’s Church in LaSalle. He passed away on August 16, 1969. Katherine worked as a cook at Millikin Elementary School in Geneseo for 25 years, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Geneseo. Katherine enjoyed sewing, baking, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Elva Pyszka, Warrenville, IL, two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Eve and Tom Van Daele, Fenton MO, Annette and Joe Borkgren, Cambridge, six grandchildren, Patricia (Michael) Overturf, Steven R. Pyszka, Brian (Christy) Van Daele, Christopher (Katie) Van Daele, Brent (Kathy) Borkgren, and Carrie (Rick) Kuznik. Other survivors include great grandchildren, Noah, Tyler, Olivia, Jonah, Paige, Tyler, Henry, Alex, Taryn, Jordyn, Morgan, Tom, Calleigh, Austin, and one on the way. Her parents, her husband, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.
