There is a celebration in Heaven as Karen Darnell, 69, of Cambridge, entered into her eternal reward on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, October 28 th at the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Rev. Cres Rios and Rev. Dr. Christopher Ritter will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Darnell Family. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Karen Marie DeShane was born February 13, 1945 in Rock Island, the daughter of Louis and Illa Trevthen DeShane. She was educated in Rock Island schools and attended Rock Island High School. Her marriage to William Darnell took place on May 6, 1967 in Dahlgren, Illinois. She was a homemaker, a wonderful Christian, and loved her life to the fullest.
Karen was a member of the Cambridge Church of God, where she loved working with children as a Sunday school teacher and especially doing Lil Crew as an outreach bringing children to Christ. She enjoyed yard sales, flea markets, cooking, and doing crafts. Karen loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Those surviving are her best friend and husband of 47 years, Bill, two daughters and a son-in-law, Terri Wood, Cambridge, and Jodi and Jeff Waldo, Geneseo, three sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Annie Darnell, Cambridge, Mike and Paula Darnell, Ohio, and Scott and Kim Darnell, Ohio. Other survivors include 15 grand children, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Dennison, Hampton, IL, Illa Stogsdill, Flordia, and two brothers, Lloyd (Sandy) DeShane, Cambridge, and David (Karen) DeShane, Erie. Her parents and a brother, Louis DeShane, preceded her in death.
