Justina Record was born June 27, 1912 in Cambridge, the daughter of Emery J. and Mable E. Vaughn Record. She was educated in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1930. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for School Superintendant Harley Rohm until her marriage. She married Iener P. Olson on February 13, 1936 in Chicago. The couple celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary prior to his death on April 10, 2011. Iener and Justina farmed south of Cambridge for many years until retiring and moving to Cambridge in the late 1960’s.
Her memberships include the Cambridge Lutheran Church and the WELCA group of the church, the Social Hour Club, the D.A.R., the Henry County Home Extension, and the NBC Club. Her hobbies were most home crafts including knitting, crocheting, sewing, and caning chairs. She enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening, and traveling.
Those surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Beckman, Durham, CA, a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tina Olson, Los Lunas, NM, four grandchildren, Mike Beckman, Jill Berry, Jesse Olson, and Jody Olson. Other survivors include five great grandchildren, Megan and Jack Beckman, Kailyn and Kevin Berry, and Mila Olson. Her parents, her husband, and a sister, Neva Pierce, preceded her in death.
