June Delay

June DeLay, 91, of Geneseo died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Boone County Hospital, Boone, IA. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13th, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 East Park St., Geneseo, IL. Rev. Lou Zuck will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Humane Society.

June Shafer was born June 2, 1918 in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Joy and Gerda Shafer. She married Raymond Floyd DeLay on September 26, 1940, in Robinson, IL. He survives. She had worked at the M & W shoe store in Geneseo and also as a teacher’s aide at Millikin grade school, Geneseo. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo, DAR, and a former member of the Geneseo Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, and her friends.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd; four children, Sharon Scandrett-Hibdon, Ogden, IA, Robert (Constance) DeLay, Cummings, GA, Randall (Jeanne) DeLay, Coal Valley, IL, and Cynthia (Javier) Bermudez, Kewanee, IL; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Evelyn Bloos.
