Joyce Ryan

August 27, 1933 — March 15, 2017

Joyce L. Ryan, 83, of Cambridge, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at her home.  A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20th, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Cambridge.  Father John Burns will officiate.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, with a parish rosary at 3:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Joyce Ryan Memorial Fund.

Joyce Louise VanDeVoorde was born August 27, 1933 in Geneseo, the daughter of Roy and Alice Lapiere VanDeVoorde.  She received her elementary education at St. Mary's Catholic School in East Moline and graduated from United Township High School in 1951.  Her marriage to Robert A. "Boogie" Ryan took place on June 28, 1952 in East Moline.  He passed away on January 27, 2011.  Joyce was a homemaker.

Her membership included St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, and the Geneseo Women of the Moose.  She enjoyed bowling, reading, crocheting, puzzle books, and her grandchildren.  Joyce was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Those surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Carol Ryan, Kewanee, Randy and Pamela Ryan, Cambridge, Greg and Kinga Ryan, Chicago, two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and John Daniels, Geneseo, and Lori and David Paxson, Brighton, Michigan.  Other survivors include nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and John Wheeler, High Point, North Carolina.  Her parents, her husband, and a sister preceded her in death.
