Joyce M. Briggs, 90, of Cambridge, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24th, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Rev. Randy Swanson will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Joyce Briggs Memorial Fund.
Joyce Perkins was born October 31, 1921 in Erie, IL, the daughter of Lawrence E. and Maude Keiber Perkins. She was educated in Erie schools, graduated from Erie High School in 1939, and then attended the Rock Island Business College. Her marriage to Orville Briggs took place on October 20, 1946 in Erie. He passed away January 7, 1988.
After her marriage, Joyce worked either full or part time at the Peoples National Bank of Cambridge from 1946 until 1982. She was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Joyce enjoyed traveling in her earlier years.
Those surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jim Haverback, Rock Island, a son and daughter-in-law, Trent and Lori Briggs, Cambridge, eight grandchildren and their (spouses), Brent (Stephanie) Haverback, Michael (Anne) Haverback, Brad (Kindel) Haverback, Melissa (Nick) Creen, Darren Haverback, and Travis, Brittney, and Mackenzie Briggs. Also surviving are five great grandchildren and a sister, Arlene McNeil, Prophetstown. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
