Joe Daniel Sifford, 81, of rural Geneseo died on Friday, January 01, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5th at New Hope Baptist Church, Coal Valley, IL. Pastor Jamie Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Edford Township Cemetery, rural Geneseo. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Joe Sifford Memorial Fund. Joe was born Jan. 2, 1934 in Dexter, Missouri the son of Carman and Sylvia (Coats) Sifford. He married Pearl Lowry on Nov. 28, 1953 in Brosley, MO. She survives. Joe had worked at the John Deere Harvester in East Moline beginning in 1964.
Joe was a very active member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Coal Valley where he loved to serve and he also enjoyed raising sheep.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl, a daughter, Carolyn (Jerry) Coziahr, Port St. Luci, FL; two sons, Roger D., Osco, IL and Billy Joe., Jacksonville, N.C.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Joy Scott, Sullivan, IL, Jane (Jack) Loftin, Dexter, MO, and Janet Jordan, Dexter, MO; and four brothers, Jerry, Carlinville, IL, Jim, Decatur, IL, Johnny, Dexter, MO, and Jerald, Dudley, MO. His parents, a son, Daniel, and a great grandson preceded him in death.
