Jim LeeRoy Hancock was born February 12, 1949 in Moline, the son of Edwin "John" and Virginia Larson Hancock. He was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1967. Jim served in the U.S. Army with the 43rd Engineering Battalion from 1969 to 1971. His marriage to Judy Anderson Brown took place on May 9, 1981 in Swedona.
He worked for Yarger Brothers Elevator in Cambridge, Westerlund Trucking and Tennant Trucking, Orion, retiring in December 2013. His memberships include the Cambridge American Legion Post No. 417 and Valley View Country Club, Cambridge. Jim was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, a true "Die Hard" fan. He truly believed the World Series victory for the Cubs was just around the corner. Jim loved Illinois, and all Big Ten football and basketball teams, and, of course, the Chicago Bears. He and his golfing friends could be found every weekend on the golf course enjoying the competition of play and fun.
Those surviving are his wife, Judy, stepson, Derick H. (Heather) Brown, Orion, and two brothers, Gary (Chris) Hancock, John Hancock, and a sister, Joni Vincent, all of Cambridge, 11 nieces and nephews, and 14 great nieces and great nephews. His parents, a brother-in-law, Jeff Vincent, and a sister-in-law, Bonita Lindstrom, preceded him in death.
