Jeannine K. Westerlund, 63, of rural Osco, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 5th, at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover. Rev. Mike Lawyer will officiate. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Stackhouse-Moore, Cambridge, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the church.
Jeannine Kay Kratzer was born January 1, 1960 in Moline, the daughter of William and Marlene McCarthey Kratzer. She was educated in Moline schools. Her marriage to Russell Byrd took place in March of 1976. They later divorced. She married David Westerlund on June 23, 1995 in Andover. She received her Associate Degree from Black Hawk College.
She was employed at John Deere Healthcare as a claims supervisor and then worked for United Health Care. Jeannine was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover, where she served on the Church Board, and a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau. Her hobbies included playing cards, going to the casinos, and puzzles. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's activities and enjoyed her dogs.
Those surviving are her husband, David, a daughter, Kendra Byrd, Rock Island, a son Joseph (Sarah) Byrd, Colona, a step daughter, Krista (Michael) Gordon, Rockville, Maryland, grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicholas (Addison), Noah, Chandler, and Parker, and two great grandchildren Lincoln and Gavin. Other survivors include three sisters, Connie (John) Marberry, Silvis, Pam (Tim) Tittle, Moline, Sandy (Richard) Cook, Rosemont, MN, two sisters-in-law, Lynn (Richard) Lawson, and Diane (Brad) Gainey, Orion, and a brother -in-law, Mike (Donna) Westerlund, Geneseo, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and a brother, John Kratzer, preceded her in death.
