Janice L. Rasmussen, 83, of rural Geneseo died Friday, August 30, 2013 in Geneseo. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at St. John''s Lutheran Church, rural Geneseo. Rev. Christopher Bushre will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be in St. John''s Cemetery, Geneseo. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John''s Lutheran Church Building Fund. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
Janice Miller was born June 28, 1930 in Geneseo the daughter of Earl and Mabel (Maeltzer) Miller. She graduated as valedictorian of Geneseo High School in 1948. Janice married Robert A. Rasmussen on Dec. 31, 1949 at St. John''s Lutheran Church in rural Geneseo. He survives.
Janice had worked many years as Advertising Manager for Geneseo Republic/Shopper. She was a member of St. John''s Lutheran Church where she was very active belonging to the LWML, Married Couples Club, teaching Sunday school and counseling church youth group for many years. She also was member of Geneseo Garden Club and had been a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing, ceramics, square dancing and line dancing, swimming, boating and water skiing.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; children, Randy (Karen) Rasmussen, Geneseo, Carmen (Steve) Sette, Geneseo and Neal (Nancy) Rasmussen, Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren, Ryan (Michelle) Rasmussen, Brady (Laurie) Rasmussen, Asa (Erin) Anderson, Eric (Sarah) Rasmussen, Laura (Mark) Gromowsky and Rachel Rasmussen; and six great grandchildren, Sydney, Tyler, Nora, Davison, Olivia, and Maggie. Also surviving is a sister, Marlene Scott, Prophetstown and a brother Don (Barb) Miller, Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
