James "Jim" Boggs

February 16, 1941 — November 23, 2014

James “Jim” B. Boggs, 73, of rural Geneseo, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26 th , at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.  Memorial may be made to the Cambridge Ambulance Service.

Jim was born February 16, 1941 in Charleston, Illinois, the son of Harold H. and Mary E. Mays Boggs.  He was educated in Charleston and Kansas schools.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1963.  His marriage to Joanne Schamp took place on March 4, 1967 in Cambridge.  Jim was employed at Deere and Company in Moline for thirty years, retiring in 1998.  He enjoyed playing in the band, law enforcement, and outdoor activities including horses, motorcycles, and racing.  He was a member of the Geneseo Moose Lodge No. 990.

Those surviving are his wife, Joanne, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sandra Boggs, Abingdon, a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Swemline, Cambridge, five grandchildren, Ashlyn and Nicholas, and Kaitlyn, Courtney, and Jacob.  Other survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Linda Boggs, Okeechobee, FL, and several nieces and nephews.  His parents preceded him in death.
