James E. Kain, 84, a resident of Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo died there on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo. Interment will be at a later date in Arkansas. Memorials may be given for a Jim Kain Memorial Fund
Jim was born on September 25, 1933 in Lepanto, Arkansas the son of William and Marie (Ivy) Kain. He was raised in Judsonia, Ark before moving to Davenport and working 33 years for the Oscar Mayer Company. Jim also enjoyed buying old homes and remodeling them. He loved to fish and hunt, especially duck and other birds. His passion was playing lead guitar and playing in live bands.
Survivors include son, Earl (Virginia) Kain, Rock Island; three daughters, Debra (Richard) DePauw, Mineral, Judy (Steve) Koning, Geneseo, and Trilla (Thomas) DeMay, Annawan; as well as 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Earl, Jamie, Joshua, Alena, Keith, Jacob, Heather, Zach, Derick, Ashley, and Daniel; 29 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren and his special companion, “Sugar”. His parents, brother Merle, sister, Ruth, and son, Rickey Kain preceded him in death.
