Howard was born March 20 in Williamsfield, the son of Ray and Edna DeVries Huber. He was educated in West Jersey, Illinois schools. His marriage to Maxine Peterson took place on January 21, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa. She passed away December 17, 1997. Howard farmed in West Jersey, LaFayette, and west of Galva, retiring in March of 1981. He was an accomplished welder who created all of the City of Galva metal Christmas decorations. He made handrails for many residents in the community. Howard loved to share a glass of wine with his friends.
Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kert and Doreen Huber, Peoria, a daughter and son-in-law, Margo Clark and Keith Luymes, Galva, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Marcella (Wilbur) Weber, LaFayette, and his devoted companion, Irma Krantz, Galva. His parents, his wife, two sons, Kenneth and Keith Huber, and two brothers, Lincoln and Carl Huber preceded him in death.
