Helen Green

Helen M. Green, 95, of Geneseo died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27th at St. Malachy''s Catholic Church, Geneseo. Father Michael Pakula and Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen M. Orsi was born December 18, 1916 in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Santina (Locci) Orsi. She graduated from Geneseo High School in1936. Her marriage to Ray W. Green took place on April 12, 1942 in Geneseo. He passed away on January 1, 1999. Helen owned and operated Geneseo Candy Kitchen with her father and brother, Orsi and Green with her husband and brother, and Green''s with her husband. She retired in 1990 and later returned to work at Four Seasons for a few years.

Helen was a life-long member of St. Malachy''s Catholic Church, Geneseo and was a Boy Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. She was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce in 1998. Helen enjoyed golfing, gardening, crafts, reading, and her dogs.

Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Marcia Green, Geneseo; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Ralph Drendel, Elburn, IL; five grandchildren, Jamian Haser, Courteney Hecht, and Kimberly, Kelsey, and Andrew Drendel; and three great grandchildren, Jordan and Dylan Haser, and Brayden Hecht. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and infant son, Gregary, and her twin brother, Victor Orsi.
