Hazel Bengtson

September 18, 1926 — June 24, 2015

Hazel D. Bengtson, 88, of Cambridge, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.  Rev. David Schultz will officiate.  Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Hazel Bengtson Memorial Fund.

Hazel D. Mallery was born September 18, 1926 in LaFayette, IL, the daughter of John L. and Gertrude L. Stuttler Mallery.  She was educated in the LaFayette school system.  Her marriage to Donald J. Bengtson took place on November 17, 1950 in LaFayette.  Hazel was a homemaker and a farm wife and assisted her husband on the farm.  She was of Methodist faith.

Those surviving are her husband, Donald, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert John and Karen Whisker, Orion, grandchildren, Corrie (Randy) Newman, rural Lynn Center, Carrie (John) Staley, Cambridge, Chad (Linda) Blank, Ashland, WI, Jenifer (James) Morris, Coal Valley, and two step grandsons, Cord Williams, Milan, and Jason Schneblin, Eldridge, IA.  Other survivors include 18 great grandchildren, a sister, Marie Matuszyk, Kewanee, and two brothers, Pete (Clarice) Mallery, Kewanee, and Harry (Betty) Mallery, LaFayette.  Her parents, a daughter, Connie Blank, twin grandsons, David Dwayne and Dwayne David Hickenbottom, preceded her in death.
