Glenna L. Palmer, 96, formerly of Cambridge died on Wednesday, February 01, 2023, at Windmill Manor, Coralville, IA. Cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Memorials may be made to Cambridge United Methodist Church. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge is assisting the family.
Glenna Lorraine Duhme was born March 16, 1926, in Spragueville, IA the daughter of Frank F. and Ruth A. (Nims) Duhme. She graduated from Preston High School in 1942 and attended Cornell College, Mt Vernon, IA for two years. She married Arley J. Palmer on May 2, 1948, in Preston, IA.
Glenna had worked as a bookkeeper at J.I. Case, Rock Island then as a secretary/office manager for Farmers Home Administration before retiring from Rock Island Arsenal in 1988 after working there as a secretary.
Memberships include Cambridge United Methodist Church where she had served as church and junior choir director for twelve years. Glenna served as UMW president for over thirteen years and sang in the choir for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Geneseo Kitchen Band. Glenna enjoyed bowling and had been active in bowling leagues in Cambridge and two leagues in Kewanee, the Alpha Sr. Monday Morning League as well as the Alpha Lanes, Kewanee Horseshoe League.
Survivors include a daughter, Maureen (Steve) Meyer, North Liberty, IA, son, Kirk Palmer, Cambridge; grandchildren, Jeremy Gibson, Heath Meyer, Joel Palmer, Melissa Plummer, Sarah Palmer, Amanda Johnson, Erica Boberg, Jessica Schuh and Andrea Thurman; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Glenna was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sandra Gibson. a granddaughter, Marnie, two brothers, three sisters. special friend, Harold Schumaker and her beloved cat, Curious.
