Gayle Vandersnick

Gayle E. VanDerSnick, 74, of Geneseo died on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.  Memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, 225 E. Park St. Geneseo with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m.  At Gayle’s request cremation rites have been accorded and interment will take place at later date in North Cemetery, Geneseo.  Memorials may be made to Gayle VanDerSnick Memorial Fund.

Gayle Peterson was born on March 9, 1941 in Moline, IL the daughter of Ralph E. and Orva V. (Whitaker) Peterson.  She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1959 and while in high school had won a contest to name the new school.  On December 1, 1961 she married John W. VanDerSnick in Geneseo.  He died on Dec. 19, 2010.

Gayle had worked 11 years as a Dispatcher for the Geneseo Police Department until her retirement in 1997.  She had also worked at Lee’s Lanes in Geneseo.  Gayle loved to bowl and had helped as a bowling coach.  She also loved NASCAR especially Dale Jarrett, enjoyed the t.v. show “In the Kitchen with David” on QVC, and camping.

Survivors include her son, Chris, Geneseo; sister, Jean Lewis, Geneseo; sister-in-law, Yvonne Peterson, East Moline; brother-in-law, Larry VanDerSnick, Harrisburg, West Virginia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Leslie VanZuiden; brother, Donald Peterson; and brother-in-law, Ken Lewis.
