Frances M. Goreth, 95, of Atkinson died on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo. Rev. Lynn Bergren will officiate. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Geneseo or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Frances Eckberg was born July 19, 1920 in Andover Township, Henry County, IL the daughter of Rudolph J. and Ruby C. (Peterson) Eckberg. She graduated from Cambridge High School. On July 4, 1941 she married Dale Goreth in Kahoka, MO. He died on Jan. 20, 1992. In her early years Frances had worked for Swan-Bahnson in Cambridge as a clerk. She then worked 20 years as a postal clerk for the United States Post Office in Atkinson and Rock Island until her retirement.
Memberships include First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, WELCA of church, Andover American Legion Auxiliary, and American Postal Workers Union. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing, she also enjoyed playing piano and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Lynda Goreth, Glasgow, KY, Chuck and Shelly Goreth, Geneseo, and John and Luci Goreth, Byron; daughter-in-law, Barbara Goreth, Kewanee; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Roger in 2011.
