Evelyn Hutchinson

November 19, 1923 — March 19, 2016

Evelyn M. Hutchinson, 92, of Cambridge, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.  Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Fire Department or Hillcrest Home.

Evelyn Mae Snow was born November 19, 1923 in Osco Township, Henry County, Illinois, the daughter of Dale R. and Edna L. Burgston Snow.  She was educated in Henry County schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1941.  Her marriage to Jerrell B. Hutchinson took place on September 7, 1941 in Cambridge.  He passed away on August 17, 1979.  Evelyn was a homemaker.

She attended the State Road Church, rural Kewanee, and later became a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.  Evelyn was an avid animal lover, especially her cat, Holly, and she enjoyed weaving rugs on a loom and joking with the staff at Hillcrest Home.  She loved playing games and doing puzzles with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Becky Hutchinson, Murray, KY, a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gene Stromquist, rural Cambridge, six grandchildren, Rod (Linda) Hutchinson, Nashville, TN, Jan Hutchinson (David Stites), Des Moines, IA, Kyle (Amy) Stromquist, Cambridge, Brady (Tristi) Stromquist, Wonder Lake, IL, Matt Stromquist, Cambridge, Kara (Luke) Hank, Davenport, IA.  Other survivors include great grandchildren, Andrew, Katie, and Amanda Hutchinson, Kaylen, Jenna, Brendan Stromquist, Reed Stromquist, Kullen and Jocelyn Hank.  Her parents, her husband, and a brother, Richard Snow, preceded her in death.
