Ervin W. DePauw, 86, of Sheffield died Monday, July 25, 2011 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan.
Father Sebastian Tumusiime will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Sheffield.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield with rosary to be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Ervin was born December 27, 1924 in Mineral, IL the son of Louis and Marie (Wespler) DePauw. He married Audrey E. Middleton on Sept. 16, 1944 in Sheffield. She survives. Ervin had farmed many years in Bureau and Henry Counties. He had also worked 8 years Sheffield Brick Yard, and 10 years at Hillcrest Home before retiring in 1990. Ervin and Audrey moved to Sheffield in 2009.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield. He enjoyed rolle bolle, wood craft, fishing and playing cards and pool. He and his wife had served as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for many years at Hillcrest Home.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey, Sheffield; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Karen DePauw, Wyanet, Richard and Debra DePauw, Annawan and Thomas and Peggy DePauw, Kewanee; 10 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Marguerite Hugart, and Bernice Beirman, Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and nine sisters.
