Elvera DeDecker was born January 24, 1921 in Annawan the daughter of Julius and Elizabeth (DeRycke) DeDecker. She was raised and educated in the Annawan area. Elvera married Raymond Taets on Jan. 9, 1946 in Annawan. He died on July 26, 2002. Elvera had attended Hershey School of Beauty Culture in Kewanee, IL. She had worked in Havens Beauty Salon in Annawan and had a shop in her own home for several years.
Elvera was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Atkinson and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan and its Altar and Rosary Society; she was a past officer of Henry County Home Extension; served on the board of Annawan-Alba Library, member of Geneseo Moose Lodge and had volunteered for the bloodmobile for many years. She enjoyed reading, golf, crocheting and cooking for her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Lynn Bogner, Lombard, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Gail and Jodi Taets, Princeton, IL; granddaughter Hallie Taets, Princeton; step granddaughter, Lisa (Joshua) Catton; step grandson, Joshua Lange; step great grandson, Karter Catton; sisters, Bernadine (Arnold) Betcher, Annawan; Helen DeVrieze, Annawan and brother, Francis DeDecker, Sheffield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister Delores Hartman.
