Eleanor M. Johnson, 97, formerly of Andover and Geneseo, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Meadowview Senior Living Center in Montrose, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17 th , at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Burial will be at the Andover Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Eleanor M. Haack was born April 15, 1916 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Herman and Margarit (Volk) Haack. She was raised in Geneseo and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1933. Her marriage to Edgar Paul Johnson took place on August 2, 1936 in Orion. He passed away on October 27, 1973. They resided in Ophiem while operating the General Store and Log Cabin over the next several years. The couple then managed Johnson’s Market on 8 th and Gaines Streets in Davenport for the next 25 years, until their retirement to Andover in 1970. Eleanor has resided for the past 10 years with her son and daughter-in-law in Montrose. She was a member of the area American Legion Auxiliary, the Geneseo Moose Lodge, and the Andover Methodist Church for many years.
Those surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis D. and Kathleen R. (Forik) Johnson, Montrose, four grandchildren, Aaron P. Johnson, Clinton, IA, Vanessas C. Bryant, Spokane, WA, Ashley M. Ohart, Waverly, NY, Amy L. Johnson, Philadelphia, PA, and two great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Herman and William Haack, preceded her in death.
