Effie Cunningham

Effie M. Cunningham, 99, of Sheffield, died Friday, December 18, 2009, at Colonial Hall Nursing Center, Princeton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22nd, at the Sheffield Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Rev. Jane Courtright will officiate. Burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The former Effie Young was born August 25, 1910 in Wyanet, Illinois, the daughter of George and Nellie Day Young. She graduated from Wyanet High School in 1929. Her marriage to Raymond Cunningham took place on August l6, 1932 in Morrison, IL. He died April 24, 1973. She had owned and operated Cunningham Locker in Sheffield with her husband until retiring in 1984.
Those surviving are sons, Marvin Cunningham, Cascade, MT, Phillip Cunningham, Princeton, IL, Chuck Young, Alexandria, VA, and K. Gene Young, Sheffield. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Her husband, a daughter, M. Verleigh Wyatt, a granddaughter, seven brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death.
