Duane A. "Dewey" McCall, 79, of Geneseo, IL, formerly of Russell, PA and Jamestown, NY, passed away on November 6, 2021, at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on December 4, 2021, at Heritage Church, Rock Island, IL. You may also view the live stream of the service on the funeral home's Facebook page. There will be no visitation. Interment will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Duane Arnold McCall was born on March 16, 1942, in Jamestown, NY, the son of Cecil Leroy and Nellie Irene (Mattson) McCall. He graduated from Falconer Central School in 1960 and earned two degrees from Jamestown Community College. Duane served as a Radio Intercept Analyst Specialist in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1966. He married the love of his life, Diane Mae Darling on June 19, 1965, in Jamestown, NY. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2020.
Duane worked for MRC/TRW/SKF Aerospace, Falconer, NY, as a Quality Control Engineer until retiring in 2004. He was a member of Heritage Church, Rock Island, IL, and a former member of both Geneseo First United Methodist Church, Geneseo, IL, and Lander United Methodist Church, Lander, PA. Dewey had served in many areas within his church, as well as many years as a volunteer and chaperone for his daughters' many band and choir trips. Dewey was a kind compassionate man that loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He enjoyed traveling, attending his grandsons' sporting events, watching the weather channel, and collecting flashlights.
Those surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Jim Chaffee, Iowa City, IA, and Christine and Shane Seeley, Geneseo, IL; grandsons, Joshua (Anna) Seeley, Bettendorf, IA, Justin (Katie Kibler) Seeley, Champaign, IL, and Jordan (Brooke Harms) Seeley, Geneseo, IL; his great-grandchildren, Logan and Loralei; his "adopted daughter" and her family, Jill (Christopher) Schutt, Bettendorf, IA, and Mallory, Allie, Matt, and Megan; his brother, Jack (Mary) McCall, Orchard Park, NY; sisters-in-law, Linda Darling, Durham, NC, and Sue (Steve) Keller, Goose Creek, SC; his brothers-in-law, Robert (Linda) Darling, Jamestown, NY, Gary (Linda) Darling, Loudon, TN, and Tom (Anthea) Darling, Hillsborough, NC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
