Drusilla "Dru" A. Lindbeck, 92, of Geneseo, formerly of Cambridge, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society - Geneseo Village. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 6th, at the First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. Rev. Alfred Beck will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Memorials may be made to the Drusilla Lindbeck Memorial Fund.
Drusilla Arlene Anderson was born October 5, 1923 in Ulah, Illinois, the daughter of Seth C. and Lillie M. Newman Anderson. She was educated in Cambridge area schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1941. She attended the American Institute of Commerce and graduated in 1942 as a business secretary. Her marriage to Glenn Lindbeck took place on November 27, 1949 in Moline. He passed away on November 20, 2005. Dru worked as a secretary for the Cambridge Community Unit School District and retired from the office of the Henry-Stark Regional Superintendent of Schools in 1984 after 20 years of service.
Her memberships include the First Lutheran Church of Geneseo, where she was an active member of the Elizabeth Circle. She was an associate member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Mesa, AZ, and the Mary Circle and was a member of the Sunland Village East Quilt Club. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, all crafts, reading, playing cards and dominos, dancing, traveling, and being a Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in all school and sports activities and making things for the grandchildren.
Those surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Joyce Lindbeck, Coal Valley, Mike and Charlene Lindbeck, Cambridge, two daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Al Fuqua, Burlington, IA, Kerry and Doug Spivey, Cambridge, and a son-in-law and his wife, John and Susan Strazewski, Eldridge, IA. Other survivors include eight granddaughters and (spouses), Deyonne (Travis) Schnowske, Rhonda (Gregg) Machetta, Amanda (Michael) Evans, Stephanie Valtierra, Angie (Phil) DeCoster, Chelsey DeSplinter, Lindsey Spivey, and Megan Fuqua, and eight grandsons, Corey (Krista) Lindbeck, Josh Strazewski, Matt Strazewski, Blake (Maggy) Spivey, Brock Spivey, Shane Fuqua, Bradley Strazewski, and Darin Strazewski. She also has 14 great grandchildren, Koehler Gray, Marisa Schnowske, Wade Schnowske, Tristen Lindbeck, Ryder Schnowske, Jose Martin Valtierra, Lily Lindbeck, Savannah Evans, Allen Valtierra, Van DeSplinter, Laura Machetta, Noah Evans, Finley DeSplinter, Henri DeCoster, and Charlie Dru DeCoster expected in mid November. Her parents, her husband, a daughter, Sue Strazewski, and two brothers, Robert and Richard Anderson, preceded her in death.
