Dorothy L. Roach, 87, of Cambridge, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 6:50 a.m. Funeral services for Dorothy and her husband Russell, who died May 2nd, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Chaplain Roger Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dorothy Roach Memorial Fund.
Dorothy Louise Anderson was born August 25, 1928 in Griffin, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin E. and Mildred H. Burkett Anderson. She was raised in the Alpha-New Windsor area and graduated from Alpha High School in 1946. Her marriage to Russell Roach took place on May 31, 1947 in Moline. He died May 2, 2016. They farmed side by side for 68 years, first south of Andover and then at their present farm northwest of Cambridge. Dorothy was a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed baking, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Luriena Roach, Geneseo, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dave Cordingley, Cambridge, grandchildren, Andrea (Dave) Dalton, Toni Bos, and Donovan (Karen) Roach. Other survivors include great grandchildren, Austin, Jazmine, Hailey, Hannah, Rheagan, Cooper, and Cale, a great great granddaughter, Maya, and a sister, Evelyn Harrison, Alexis. There are four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, and two brothers, LaVerne "Buck" and Wendell Anderson, preceded her in death. Dorothy was the button that held her family together.
