Dorothy E. Hodgson, 100, of Geneseo died on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Long Term Care Unit, Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2 nd at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
Dorothy Eileen Hawk was born on January 27, 1915 in rural Whatcheer, Iowa the daughter of Jacob W. and Bessie J. (Brown) Hawk. She rode a horse 5 miles to attend Rose Hill High School and graduated in 1932. She married William Hodgson on January 27, 1935. He died on June 23, 2002. The couple had lived in Oskaloosa and Cedar Rapids, IA before moving to Geneseo in 1939. Dorothy liked to piece quilts and to bowl having learned to drive and to bowl at the age of forty-four.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Richard Stiner, Geneseo; and sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy Hodgson, Geneseo and Ronny and Sandra Hodgson, Geneseo. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter-in-law, four brothers, and a sister.
