Dorothy U. Griffin, 93, of Princeton, formerly of Sheffield died Monday, October 15, 2012 at Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17th at Hopeland Cemetery, Buda. Rev. Jane Courtright will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Hopeland Cemetery or Sheffield United Church of Christ. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield is assisting with arrangements.
Dorothy Underwood was born January 7, 1919 in Concord Township, Bureau County the daughter of William Albert and Eva Blanche (Holmes) Underwood. She graduated from Buda High School in 1936. Dorothy married Archie Griffin on June 8, 1940 in Keosaqua, IA. He died on Feb. 21, 1984.
Dorothy was a member of Sheffield United Church of Christ and Sheffield American Legion Auxiliary #415. She was a former volunteer at LaSalle Veterans Home and Greenfield Home, Princeton. She loved to walk and read.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, a special great great niece, Meghann Hasbrook. Dorothy is also survived by several cousins and second cousins.
