Dorothy A. Gernant, 99, of Geneseo died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22nd at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St. Geneseo. Memorials may be made to Geneseo Senior Citizens or First United Methodist Church, Geneseo.

Dorothy Frank was born Sept. 16, 1913 in Reynolds, IL the daughter of Leonard and Caroline (Weitz) Frank. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1932. Dorothy married Everett Gernant on August 13, 1939 in Geneseo. He died on June 28, 1989.

Dorothy was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She had played organ in area churches for 52 years. She was also an active member of Geneseo Senior Citizens where she had served as treasurer when the community center/senior citizens center was built. She was very proud of the center. Dorothy had been a charter member of the Good Samaritan volunteer group. Dorothy enjoyed music and crocheting.

Survivors include her daughter Judy K. Gernant, Osaka, Japan, daughter-in-law, Virginia Gernant, Mequon, WI, two grandsons, Tim (Kim) Gernant, Ann Arbor, MI and Dan (Lindsay) Gernant, Westerville, Ohio, three great grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Samuel and a sister, Marjorie Rahn, Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Dr. Robert Gernant, and a sister Kathryn Hulting.
