Doralee M. “Dory” Tom, 81, of Annawan died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Garden View Care Center, O’Fallon, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Jan. 30th at Annawan Community United Methodist Church, Annawan, IL. Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 401 W. Front St., Annawan. An Orthodox Prayer service, officiated by Fr. Gregory Buss, will conclude the visitation. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, St. George Orthodox Church, Spring Valley, IL, Annawan Community United Methodist Church, or Arlington United Methodist Church, Bridgeton, MO.
Doralee was born January 10, 1931 in Annawan, IL the daughter of Robert and Grace (Whetstone) Pont. She graduated from Annawan High School. On May 8, 1949 she married Peter Tom in Annawan. He died on March 1, 2002. Doralee had worked with her husband in their businesses, Tom’s Home Appliance Store and Tom Lanes, both in Annawan, and she had worked for over 35 years at Bob Norton Agency in Annawan.
Doralee was a member of St. George Orthodox Church, Spring Valley, IL and was also active in Annawan Community United Methodist Church, Annawan. She had also been a member of Annawan Women’s Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosalie “Rose” (Peter) Albrecht, O’Fallon, MO and Mary Lee (Richard) Barnes, Klamath Falls, OR; three grandchildren, Suzy Schulte, Robert Allen, and Carolyn Allen; and a great granddaughter, Sarah Moon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Gladys Kipp.
