Donna Vandyke

Donna L. VanDyke, 87, of Geneseo, formerly of Cambridge, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society - Geneseo Village.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18th, at the Cambridge United Methodist Church.  Rev. Jim Aniol and Deacon Art Ries will officiate.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services.  Memorials may be made to the Cambridge United Methodist Church or the Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary.

Donna Lucille Werkheiser was born July 27, 1930 in Burns Township, Henry County, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd H. and Helen K. Livingston Werkheiser.  She graduated from Galva High School in 1948.  Her marriage to Robert L. VanDyke took place on October 3, 1948 in Galva.  He passed away on September 7, 1999.  She was a homemaker and volunteered for various community organizations.

Her memberships include the Cambridge United Methodist Church, the Priscilla UMW group of the church, the Cambridge American Legion Auxiliary, the Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary (which she really enjoyed), the Cambridge and Geneseo Order of the Eastern Star, and the Geneseo Moose Lodge #990.  Donna's hobbies were camping and traveling.  She always enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, card clubs, and coffee with friends.

Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lynda VanDyke, Prophetstown, a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Art Ries, Geneseo, five grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Ries, Geneseo, Darin (Molly) Ries, Montevideo, MN,  Jim (Martha) Ries, Geneseo, Eric (Chelsie) VanDyke, Prophetstown, and Angela (Donald) Appleman, Vicenza, Italy.  Other survivors include 15 great grandchildren, Bailey Ries, Braden Ries, Abby Joy VanderPloeg, Cooper Ries, Abby Lynn Ries, Matthew Ries, Sophia Ries, Joseph Ries, Gianna Ries, Xavier Ries, Anthony Ries, Gavin VanDyke, Brevin VanDyke, Eli Appleman, and Jake Appleman.  Her parents, her husband, a great granddaughter, Ella Rose Ries, a great grandson, Benjamin Ries, and a brother, Robert Werkheiser, preceded her in death.
