Donna J. Dybdal, 77, of Cambridge, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, only 10 people will be allowed into the funeral home at a time. A private graveside committal service will be held on Friday at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Donna Dybdal Memorial Fund.
Donna Jean McGuire was born December 19, 1942 in Galesburg, the daughter of Donald and Doris Crapnell McGuire. After her mother married T. Glen Cox, Donna took his last name as her own. She attended school in Muscatine and then graduated from Cambridge High School in 1961. She married Steve Johnson in December of 1962 and they later divorced. Her marriage to Richard Dybdal took place in March of 1976 in Muscatine.
She worked at the Valley View Pro Shop in Cambridge, the Cambridge Chronicle, and operated the Clothes Closet in Cambridge. Donna then went to work at the Henry County Assessor's Office and retired from there as Supervisor of Assessments. She then worked at Valley View as the lounge manager until retiring from there in 2010. Donna was a longtime member of Valley View Club and a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Those surviving are her husband, Richard "Tricky", a son and daughter-in-law, Tom "Thunder" and Jennifer Johnson, Cambridge, a grandson, Stone Kyle Johnson, a step grandson, Vincent (Jackie) Mercy, Geneseo, a step great granddaughter, Sophie, five step children, Marti (Mark) Sproston and Miss (Rick) Koster, all of Cambridge, Doug (Laura) Dybdal, Kris (Dave) Kupres, and Tam Meyer, all of Arizona, a stepson-in-law, Mike Blade, Andover, ten step grandchildren, and eight step great grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Shirley Kent, Alpha, a brother, Tom (Mickie) Cox, Muscatine, two nieces and two nephews. Her parents, a sister, Sandy Castle, and a stepdaughter, Robyn Blade, preceded her in death.
