Donald C. Woodbury, 85, of Cambridge, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, with military honors. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Donald Woodbury Memorial Fund.
Donald Clarence Woodbury was born January 27, 1932 in Edford Township, Henry County, the son of Clarence A. and Martha M. VanHolderbeck Woodbury. He attended school in Edford Township and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1949. Don served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His marriage to Janice Wilford took place on September 22, 1955 in Rock Island. She passed away on October 15, 1988.
He farmed with his father and then on his own until moving to Cambridge in 1972. Don worked for Clifford Lumber in Cambridge for 14 years. He then started Woodbury Construction and worked as a carpenter until retiring in 1997. Don was a member of the Cambridge Baptist Church, the Cambridge American Legion Post No. 417, and the County Center Grange. His hobbies were woodworking, playing cards, and helping farmer friends.
Those surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mike Bates, Sheffield, a son, Drew Woodbury, Cambridge, three grandsons, Colton Johnson, Cameron Woodbury, and Austin Woodbury. His parents, his wife, and a brother, Darrel Woodbury, preceded him in death.
