Donald Hetzel

April 13, 1938 — March 9, 2015

Donald E. Hetzel, 76, of Cambridge, died Monday, March 9, 2015, at the emergency room of Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.  Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15 th , at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.  Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Ambulance Service.

Donald Eugene Hetzel was born April 13, 1938 in Plymouth, Illinois, the son of Lester and Geraldine Magin Hetzel.  He was educated in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1956.  He served in the U. S. Army Reserves during the 1950’s.  His marriage to Esther A. Humes took place on July 4, 1958 in Macomb, IL.  He was employed by the John Deere Company for 31 ½ years, first at the Plow and Planter Works in Moline for 22 years and then at the Harvester Plant in East Moline until retiring in 1998.  Don was a member of the Orion Sportsman Club.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, and fishing.

Those surviving are his wife, Esther, two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianna and Alan Anderson, Cambridge, and Debra and Bill Ceurvorst, Cambridge, and four grandchildren, Jamie (Lisa) Anderson, East Moline, Aaron (Beverley) Anderson, Newark, DE, Lucas (Jennifer) Ceurvorst, Cambridge, and Sam Ceurvorst, Cambridge.  Other survivors include three great grandchildren, Charlie, Shae, and Nora, two brothers, William (Judy) Hetzel, Colona, Gary Hetzel, Missouri, a sister, Joyce (Larry) Gabbert, Camden, IL, and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Hetzel, Tennessee, IL.  His parents, a sister, Vera Longneckker, a brother, Carroll Hetzel, and a granddaughter, Erika, preceded him in death.  The family would like to thank Jill Dial and Judy Hetzel for all of their help during these last many months.
