Dean Larson

March 28, 1930 — October 13, 2016

Dean C. Larson, 86, of Annawan passed in his sleep Thursday morning, Oct. 13, 2016 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19th at Annawan Community United Methodist Church, Annawan.  Rev. Dan Wright will officiate.  Burial will be in Annawan Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Annawan.  Memorials may be made to Annawan-Alba Rescue or Fire Departments.

Dean Conrad Larson was born March 28, 1930 in Kewanee, the son of Harold and Edna (Conrad) Larson.  He attended Kewanee schools.  His father passed away when Dean was 14 so mom and son operated Larson Furniture in Kewanee.

He married Jean Louise Jahraus and had 2 children Sue and Bob.  Larson Furniture was moved to Annawan where he also had a small farm.  He later opened Larson Distributing in Moline and continued there through his retirement.

Dean had served as a board member for many years at Geneseo Telephone Company.  He was a member of Annawan Community United Methodist Church, and a charter member of Annawan Kiwanis club.  He was very proud of all of their community activities.

An avid woodworker and scrollsawyer, he loved to travel, play bridge and especially play cribbage for quarters.

He will be missed by many.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife of 51 years, he is survived by his son, Robert, Geneseo, his daughter Sue (Joe) Van Wassenhove, Kirkland, WA, 4 grandsons, Dieter, Torsten, Sandor and Hannes as well as three great grandchildren.
