Darrell was born March 4, 1961 in Geneseo, the son of Virgil J. and Marlene Kespohl Palmer. He was educated in Geneseo schools and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1979. His marriage to Veronica “Ronnie” Kowitz took place on September 8, 1986 in Cambridge. Darrell worked for the Osco Feed and Fertilizer Co. and later for Gold Star FS, Inc. in Atkinson and Cambridge. He also worked in the spring and the fall for Rick Turner Farm, Cambridge. Darrell enjoyed fishing, camping, and many other outdoor activities.
Those surviving are his wife, Ronnie, his mother, Marlene Palmer, Cambridge, a sister, Cynthia Legate, Kewanee, a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Terrie Palmer, Moline, two nieces, Reva and Renee, and a nephew, Sam. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Annette Brooks, Cambridge, Jeanette (Phil) Kilstrom, Erie, brothers-in-law, Eugene Kowitz, Sr., Tennessee, Wilbur W. Kowitz, Jr., Hawaii, a niece, Julie (Jason) Dobbels, and several great nieces and great nephews. His father, a brother, Timothy Wayne, and his mother and father-in-law, Billie and Wilbur Kowitz, precede him in death.
