Conrad Gebeck

Conrad William Gebeck, 82, of Buda died Wednesday, Feb. 6th at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9th at Sheffield United Church of Christ. Rev. Jane Courtright will officiate. Burial will be at Sheffield Cemetery with military rites by the Sheffield American Legion. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Sheffield Fire Department. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Conrad was born June 5, 1930 in Kewanee, IL, the son of Charles R. and Ella (Knudsen) Gebeck. He graduated from Sheffield High School in 1948 and served in the US Army during the Korean War in Okinawa. He farmed all his life with his brother, Frank and then also with his nephew, Bill. He loved his family at to fix things, and weld. Conrad was a lifetime member of Sheffield United Church of Christ and had served as a trustee and treasurer of the Sheffield Fire District for 52 years.


Survivors include a sister, Gertrude Cole, Greenfield, IL; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Patricia Gebeck, Buda; four nephews, Steven and Charles Cole, and Charles and William Gebeck; and four nieces, Angella Hughes, Melissa (Mark) Warzecha, Jennifer Gebeck, and Katherine (Michael) Pratt. Also surviving are four great nephews, Jordan and Christopher Cole, Frank Gebeck II, and Ryan Pratt; eight great nieces, Stephanie Albrecht, Kelly Barnes, Danielle, and Rebecca Hughes, Marissa Warzecha, and Hannah, Jennifer, and Elizabeth Pratt; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
