Clay L. Allen, 64, of Cambridge, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013, in the Emergency Room of UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2nd, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clay Allen Memorial Fund.  To give on line

Clay was born July 26, 1949 in Geneseo, the son of F. Raymond and Lucille Shaddinger Allen. He was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1967. He attended Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL and Black Hawk College, East Campus, Kewanee. His marriage to Jolene L. Wheatley took place on August 20, 1972 in Geneseo. Clay and his parents operated the Gamble Store in Cambridge until 1984. He then worked in the electronics department of J.C. Penney in Moline. After that he was a car salesman at various auto dealerships in the Quad City area and was presently working at Courtesy Kia in Moline. He was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church and Valley View Club, Cambridge. He enjoyed golf, antique refinishing, gardening, music, dancing, and spending time with his family.


Those surviving are his wife, Jolene, two daughters and a son-in-law, Nikki Jo and Timothy Ernst, Geneseo, and Renee Allen, Nashville, TN, and two grandsons, Ethan and Jaxon Ernst.
