Clarence Carlson

January 11, 1919 — February 20, 2017

Clarence F. Carlson, 98, of Osco Township, rural Cambridge, died Monday, February 20, 2017, at his home.  Private funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services.  Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Public visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Lutheran Church.

Clarence Frank Carlson was born January 11, 1919 in Osco Township, the son of Frank A. and Ruth E. (Carlson)  Carlson.  He was educated in Osco Township schools and graduated from Cambridge High School.  He was the last known surviving member of the Class of 1936.  Clarence was a lifelong farmer in Osco Township.  He was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church and a Charter Member of Valley View Club, Cambridge, where he enjoyed playing golf.  Clarence also enjoyed bowling in his earlier years.

Those surviving are a niece, Judy (Robert) Meirhaeghe, Orion, two nephews, Roger (Nancy) Carlson, Andover, and Michael Carlson, O'Fallon, MO.  Other survivors include six great nieces and great nephews, 14 great great nieces and great great nephews, and one great great great nephew.  His parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Olive Belle and Eugene Carlson, a brother, John Robert Carlson, and a great great niece, Erica, preceded him in death.  The family would like to thank Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care, Good Samaritan Home Healthcare, and Heartland Hospice for the great care they provided.
