Cheryl I. Leander, 60, of Nekoma, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, after a short illness.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services.  Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate.   Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Cheryl Leander Memorial Fund.

Cheryl Ilene Wiles was born July 14, 1956 in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Herbert and Charlene Davis Wiles.  She was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1974.  Her marriage to Michael Leander took place on September 13, 1980 in Cambridge.  Cheryl worked at the Maytag Plant in Galesburg for 28 years and was a team leader when the plant closed.  She has been employed as an assistant manager for the last 11 years at the Dollar Tree in Kewanee.

She was a member of the Hook and Bullet Club in Victoria, IL, where she liked to camp.  Cheryl loved to cook and feed many friends and family.  She enjoyed making floral arrangements, wild flowers, watching the sunset and the moon and stars. Cheryl especially loved spending time with her granddaughter, Olivia.

Those surviving are her husband, Mike, a daughter, Jennifer Leander (George Calderon), Nekoma, a granddaughter, Olivia Calderon, and her mother, Charlene Wiles, Cambridge.  Other survivors include a sister, Karen Legere, Canton, IL, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wendell and Debra Wiles, and Greg and Christine Wiles, all of Cambridge.  Her father preceded her in death.
