Charles W. “Bill” Rock, 77, of Cambridge, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26th, at Grace Community Church of the Nazarene, Colona. Rev. David Smith will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Memorials may be made to the Bill Rock Memorial Fund.
Bill was born October 1, 1937 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Mary Elizabeth Rock. He attended school in Eldon, Iowa and graduated from Eldon High School in 1956. He married Joyce Ann Pounders on September 22, 1962 in Moline, IL. He was a baker and operated bakeries first in Calamus, IA, then in Vinton, IA and finally in Geneseo, IL. He was a member of Grace Community Church of the Nazarene in Colona. Know also as “Rocky”, he enjoyed music and had his own band for several years. He recorded a professional CD in Nashville. Bill was also a gunsmith and an avid shooter.
Those surviving are his wife, Joyce, two daughters, Pamela (Jeff) Stracner, Rock Island, Cheryl (Terry) Vincent, Cambridge, three sons, William Rock, Milan, Bryan Rock, Davenport, David Rock (Amber Craig), Bettendorf, 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by his mother, an infant son, and an infant granddaughter.
