Charlene Wiles, 83, of Cambridge, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Rev. David Joyce will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Charlene Wiles Memorial Fund.
Charlene Davis was born October 24, 1934 in Adair County, Missouri, the daughter of Charley and Pearl Hedrick Davis. She was educated in Adair County schools. Her marriage to Herbert D. Wiles took place on January 22, 1951 in Green Castle, Missouri. He passed away on June 26, 1997. Charlene worked as a cook in area restaurants. She loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and liked working in the garden and making quilts. Charlene and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping out West.
Those surviving are a daughter, Karen Legere, Canton, IL, two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Christine
Wiles, and Wendell and Debra Wiles, all of Cambridge, and a son-in law, Mike Leander, Nekoma. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Bonnie, Jennifer, Ian, and Chantelle, and nine great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, a daughter, Cheryl Leander, four sister, four brothers preceded her in death, and twin brothers and a sister died in infancy.
