Carl Robert Youngstrom was born October 27, 1921 in Andover Township, Henry County, Illinois, the son of Carl O. and Anna J. Johnson Youngstrom. He was educated in Victoria schools. His marriage to Betty L. Moline took place on January 29, 1944 in Galesburg. She passed away April 28, 2007. He was a farmer in the Knoxville, Galva, and Bishop Hill areas. Bob also worked at the Kewanee Boiler for 18 years, retiring in 1983. He retired from farming in 1992 and then moved to Cambridge. Bob had a love for horses and raised, trained, and broke Belgian horses. He used to enjoy providing horse drawn wagons for various festivals in the Bishop Hill area.
Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Sue Youngstrom, Cambridge, a daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and Mike Whittington, Geneseo, three grandchildren, Tracy (Joe) Powell, Trent Youngstrom, Dalton Whittington, and four great granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Ashlyn Powell, and Kaylee and Aubrey Youngstrom. Other survivors include a sister, Helen Ross, Denver, CO, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, a son, Daryl Youngstrom, and three sisters, Gladys Quanstrom, Marian Duff, and Verna Scott, preceded him in death.
