Burnetta M. Medley, 83, of rural Cambridge, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30 th , at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Father John Burns will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Ambulance Service or Hammond-Henry Home Healthcare.
Burnetta Marie VanRie was born September 18, 1931 in Atkinson, the daughter of Camiel “Mel” and Bertha Wirth VanRie. She was educated in Geneseo area schools and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1949. Her marriage to Walter H. Medley took place on November 10, 1951 in Geneseo. He passed away on June 13, 2009. Burnetta was a farm wife and homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and word search, but her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Those surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Tom Owens, Cambridge, three sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Arleta Medley, Cambridge, Russell Medley, Cambridge, and Ronald and Gina Medley, Alpha. Other survivors include nine grandchildren, Chad Meirhaeghe, Gina Tatro, Bart (Samantha) Owens, Meggie (Dain) Luallen, Buckley (Tiffany) Medley, Culley (Amy) Medley, Sabrina, Makenna, and Dawson Medley, seven great grandchildren, and a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Crystal VanRie, Arlington, Texas. Her parents, her husband, a grandson, Dustin Medley, two great granddaughters, Jayden and Kaylyn Medley, and a sister, Joanne Vincent, preceded her in death.
