Bonnie Bodin

Bonnie S. Bodin, 73, of Cambridge, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Pastor James Patrick will officiate. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bonnie Bodin Memorial Fund.

Bonnie was born September 8, 1939 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marion P. and Anne Lee Thomasson Jones. The family moved to Illinois in 1949, and Bonnie was educated in Rock Island schools and graduated from Rock Island High School in 1958. Her marriage to Larry Bodin took place on July 3, 1969 in Rock Island.

She was trained as a surgical technician at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rock Island. She work there as well as Franciscan Hospital, Rock Island, and later worked as a surgical aide at Moline Lutheran Hospital which became Trinity Medical Center. Bonnie then worked in housekeeping at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo and in the last few years she was a private duty caregiver for the elderly. She grew up in the Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island and later attended the Osco Community Church, and the Victory Baptist Church in East Moline. Bonnie spent her later years caring for her children and grandchildren, which was the joy of her life.

Those surviving are her husband, Larry, a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Mark Hilliard, Laura, IL, a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Carrie Bodin, Silvis, nine grandchildren, Mark Andrew (Tonya) Hilliard, Bridget Ellen (Tim) Barden, Andrew Wayne (Ashley Ruth Lisenbee) DeGroot, Joshua James Russell DeGroot, Michael Jeremiah Hilliard, Chance Skylar DeGroot, Mason James Hilliard, Hannah Lee Bodin, Jesse Ray Bodin, and two great grandsons, Evan Andrew and Nolan Ryan Hilliard. Other survivors include siblings, Violet (Jerry) Gibbons, Andover, Phil Jones, Cedar Rapids, IA, Ella (Bert) Brown, Rock Island, Dona Brown, Rock Island, and Robert (Lois) Jones, East Moline. Her parents, a grandson, Jordan Lee DeGroot, a brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Pat Jones, and a sister-in-law, Pam Jones preceded her in death.
