Bob D. Gerard, 92, of Galva died on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Royal Oaks Care Center, Kewanee. As per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Galva is assisting the family.
Bobby Dean Gerard was born May 6, 1931 in Bradford, IL the son of Raymond L. and Verna M. (Champion) Gerard. He was raised in Bradford and graduated from Bradford High School in 1950. From 1951 until 1953 Bob served in the Illinois National Guard. He married Elaine Freeburg in 1954 and later in 1967 He married Beverly A. Bowen-Derry.
Bob had worked for the Bradford Republican, Bureau County Republican, Kewanee Star Courier, Virginia Gazette, Galva News, Pearson Bros., BiCon Publishing, Odd Couple Printers and part-time for CSB. He was a member of Galva American Legion Post 45. He enjoyed remodeling his house, gardening, bike riding and fiddling with his computer.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; two sons, Donald (Connie) Gerard, Galva, and Kevin (Jane) Gerard, Kewanee; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Also surviving are step-children, Ray Derry and Tim Derry; step-sister, Doris (Delbert) Howell, brother-in-law, Hubert (Wink) Goodman; and step-sister, Jennett Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Joyce and Sherrie; step-sister, Wilma (James) Savage; step-brother, Dean Russell; son, Bruce Gerard; and step-daughters, Debi Derry-Patnoe and Patty Derry.
