Billy G. Wolf, 90, of Geneseo passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at his home with family by his side.  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27th at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  Rev. Dr. Christopher Ritter officiating.  Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo with military honors by Don Cherry Post 5083 V.F.W., Geneseo.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo.  Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Geneseo, or Aisle of Flags.

Billy Grant Wolf was born November 27, 1924 in the same house he passed away in, which is in Geneseo Township, Henry County, IL, the son of Grant and Ruth (Douglas) Wolf.  He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1942.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1946, serving in the Pacific as a signalman aboard the U.S.S. Bailey Battleship where he received three medals and a ribbon.  Billy married Verda Mae Ziegler on Dec. 24, 1945 while home on leave in Geneseo, Illinois.  She survives.

Following Billy’s service in the Navy he farmed in Geneseo and Hanna Townships moving back to his childhood home on Wolf Road in 1960.  He also later farmed in Whiteside County, owned and operated Geneseo Rendering Service for many years and then worked with the Firestone Tire Company running a recap route before retiring.

Billy attended First United Methodist Church, Geneseo, and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.  He enjoyed boating and water skiing at Shady Beach for many years.  He also enjoyed going on day trips with friends and family, eating out, and spending time watching his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Verda; daughters, Debbie (Steve) Rogers, Linda Wolf, and Terri (Randy) Pobanz, all of Geneseo; a son Randy (Karen) Wolf, Geneseo; daughter-in-law, Jan Wolf, Indianapolis, IN; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister, Venita Pritchard, Geneseo and many nieces and nephews.  Billy was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gregory Grant Wolf in 2007 and his brother-in-law, Harold Pritchard.
